A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME

So with this blog being predominantly about ponies, I thought it best to tell you a little bit more about myself - I chose the name "Girl in Tweed" as most country girls will know, its hard living in the country (especially in winter) without a tweed jacket! I am also a self confessed tweed hoarder, I have several coats, jackets, breeks and even a pair of tweed hot pants. Whether I am out hunting in my Caldene or out in the field beating in my Beavers of Bolton - you will almost always see me in tweed.

Before we purchased Gally, I had the opportunity to ride some incredible horses - I came into riding late, at the age of around 9 and have been hooked ever since! Spending most of my spare time up at the riding school, where my family became good friends with the chief instructor and I was fortunate enough to be given free rides on ponies you could only dream of sitting on! From BSJA ponies to Master's horses, I don't think I realised how lucky I was back then! These ponies, were those that took me from a wobbling mess that couldn't rise to trot, to less than a year later, flying hedges with the Farmers Bloodhounds. Pony Club became a huge part of my riding life; and I was member for many years of the Grafton Hunt branch, representing them at Area Dressage level.

When I'm not playing ponies, I am most probably on the farm. I am keen to educate the world about farming and all that goes with it. Having grown up with a farming family, it baffles me that most of the population has not come across a farm and doesn't know where their food comes from! I have been brought up around the beautiful English countryside and support the traditional activities that conserve it. When it comes to shooting, I'm not the best shot but I love it. Nothing is more thrilling than when you hit that clay or you get to eat what you shot!

You will also probably see many photos of my gorgeous sheep! I am a proud breeder of native Southdown Sheep (they look like teddies) and show them alongside Gally when we have enough hands to juggle everything!

If you are looking for something to do, you can always head over to my Instagram page to see what I'm getting up to!
